The Flaws, a four-piece from Co Monaghan, Ireland released their
debut self financed EP in the summer of 2005. The 4 track EP won
a host of admirers with tunes like 'Sixteen', & 'Idolise'. National
airplay quickly followed on Today FM with presenter Alison Curtis
describing the lead track Sixteen as brilliant,
one of the best Irish tracks of 2005.
A hugely successful set at the 2005 Hard Working Class Hero's
festival has seen them hailed as one of the top 3 bands of the weekend
in the Irish Times and helped them garner support slots with the
likes of Nine Black Alps and Nada Surf.
Their debut single No Room was released in Ireland
in March 06 as a calling card and was limited to 1,000 copies.
It won many fine reviews as did the bands live performances. They
took to the road for a 6 date tour and warmed up with some U.K shows
in March with Nightmare of You.
The Flaws toured Ireland in June 06 to support a free download
track Out Tonight, recorded their first 2FM session
and took part in the Nokia New Music Tour alongside Director, The
Blizzards and The Marshals. A flurry of pre-christmas activity with
a Club NME headliner and 17 live dates including tours with both
Director and Polytechnic saw a busy end to 2006. They performed
some noisy, dirty rock n roll (as described by
John Kelly himself) on Other Voices which was broadcast
on RTE Two in February 07 along with performances from Get
Cape Wear Cape Fly, Director, and Cerys Matthews.
A festival date in Bologna at Irlanda In Festa on 17th
of March saw The Flaws play Italy for the first time. Other Irish
artists that performed at the festival included Joe Chester and
Interference.
Sixteen was released in May 07. The single was
recorded at Grouse Lodge studios and mixed at Apollo in Dublin by
acclaimed producer Gareth Mannix (Director/Republic Of Loose/Delorentos).
Sixteen, has long been a live favorite with its
instantly hummable melody and sees lyricist Paul Finn delve deep
into the darkest thoughts of his minds psyche to bring us
an infectious indie pop tune of the highest calibre. To coincide
the band toured around the country on the 2FM 2moro tour with Giveamanakick
and Messiah J and the Expert and the single went top 30 in Ireland.
The brilliant self funded video for the single received extensive
rotation on Channel 6.
The Flaws released the graceful 1981 in July 07.
The single taken from the forthcoming debut album Achieving
Vagueness, which is due for release on 14th September was
also recorded at Grouse Lodge and mixed at Apollo by Mannix . It
will be available to download from various digital music services
worldwide including itunes and at record stores nationwide.
